extreme group
Saturday, October 4, five students from West Side’s eXtreme Youth chapter attended a boot camp at the El Dorado Boys and Girls’ Club. The event was hosted by the Union County eXtreme Youth Program which is sponsored by the SHARE Foundation. Students from EHS, Barton, Parkers Chapel, Strong-Huttig, and West Side were divided into 5 teams. Each team participated in team building exercises. One activity required students to work together to stack blocks while wearing goggles that simulated alcohol levels that would result in DUI charges. Another activity required blindfolded students to be led by other student leaders around the facility listening carefully to or giving clear instructions. Addison Alexander, Kaitlyn Earnest, Annie Walker, Micah Wake, and Gracie Winn all showed excellent leadership as they worked with students from other schools to complete the tasks they were assigned. In all of the activities, students learned how to work together and sharpen their communication skills. WSCS Extreme’s next event will be sponsoring Red Ribbon Week at West Side beginning October 27.
